About the Author
D. E. Cummins was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1988, where she completed her primary education and later attended R. Nelson Snider High School. Cummins earned bachelor's degrees in both Psychology and General Studies from Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Leadership from The Ohio State University.
Before pursuing writing full-time, Cummins worked as a case manager serving elderly and disabled clients. She later founded and operated her own case management business in Indiana from 2022 to 2026. The success of that venture gave her the financial freedom to dedicate herself fully to writing—something she had dreamed of since childhood.
From an early age, Cummins was fascinated by the idea of parallel realms and what might exist on the other side of a mirror. That lifelong curiosity, combined with her workplace experiences, inspired her to write her debut novel, Orchids and Ash.
In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, taking nature walks, building and maintaining aquariums, and playing chess.
